SpectraFluor Fluorescent Printers' Inks SpectraFluor Fluorescent Coatings
SpectraFluor Pigments
Spectra Systems security pigments meet or exceed all chemical and light fastness requirements for security thread and printing based substrate security. Spectra's pigments are daylight invisible and brightly fluorescent under light. Secure substrate products impregnated with these rare color pigments provide a cost competitive feature for authentication and document/substrate protection. Spectra Systems' security pigments are used in major world currencies and are manufactured and qualification tested for high durability in substrate and document security applications. SpectraFluor Fluorescent Printers' Inks SpectraFluor Printers' Inks, designed for use on commercial press equipment, are available in-Cure Flexographic, Aqueous Flexographic,-Cure Offset, and Oil Base Offset formulations. These inks fluoresce when illuminated by a longwave light source, and can be machine read for emission wavelength and intensity characteristics. SpectraFluor Postal Yellow inks in each of the above formulations have been approved by the US Postal Service for printing the fluorescent taggant square on Certified Mail forms. Each exhibits emission wavelength, intensity, solvent resistance, and lightfastness characteristics that exceed USPS requirements. Please note that each printer must also submit samples of printed work for USPS approval. We can provide similar ink formulations in many other fluorescent colors, and can make custom inks available subject to an exclusive supply agreement. All SpectraFluor Printers' Inks have a light buff body color under ambient light, are translucent to opaque after drying / curing, and have a reputation of providing the printer with excellent mileage. SpectraFluor Fluorescent Coatings SpectraFluor Coatings are available in water-base varnish, nitrocellulose lacquer, and adhesive matrices. Utilizing any of several SpectraFluor Long Pigments, the coating fluoresces when illuminated by a longwave light source and can be machine read for peak emission wavelength. Fluorescent intensity is a function of pigment concentration (customer specifies) in the coating. The film body color under ambient light is translucent to opaque, depending on the pigment concentration and the applied thickness of the coating on the finished packaging. Recommended film thickness (dry basis) is up to 0.03 mm. Depending on the matrix selected, the coating is supplied as a one- or two-part system. Most SpectraFluor colors exhibit a broadband fluorescence emission similar to that shown in the example spectrum below: Download SpectraFluor coatings spec sheet (pdf)
